Our Foundation

Petra is a Greek Word found in Matthew 16:18 and means ‘Bedrock’ or foundation. The Lord Jesus Christ used this term when describing Himself as ‘The Foundation’ of the church. Petra is the opposite of Petros (Peter) which means ‘little rock’ that can be crushed and easily shifted. While Petra is a large unshakeable unmovable invincible rock, so Petros needs Petra to survive. As believers we perceive ourselves as Petros needing Petra in order to walk in the fullness of our purpose. The ministry was established to create a training base, a home and ministry platform for the development of the 5 fold ministry

Our Team

Minister Bridget Banda

Bridget is a passionate follower and lover of Jesus, she is intentional about living vulnerably and authentically so that people can clearly see where she ends and Jesus begins. He is the one who completes her and carries her. Any chance she gets to share God’s love and revelation with others is a privilege that she cherishes. Bridget serves as an elder at Petra church

Pastor Peter Samuels

Pastor Peter Samuels has been working with Petra Church as a Trustee since it was founded in 2002 and has been a Pastor under the Ministry for over 10 years. Although he lives in Birmingham with his wife and family, he regularly attends the Sunday services in Brixton. Pastor Peter is a Bible teacher and the author of several books. He is passionate about encouraging believers to become mature and victorious through their relationship with Christ and a deeper understanding of the Word of God. He works for a university in the West Midlands and is regularly involved in voluntary work in East Africa.

Pastor Howard Jones

Pastor Howard Jones is the founder and leader of Petra Life Fellowship. He and his wife Marcia lead a young church with a growing Eldership team. The members of the church are  each committed to reaching out to the lost and strays within their circle of influence. Pastor Jones is passionate about discipleship, and about building discipleship shaped church, and therefore his vision and goal is to equip and mobilise Discipleship Centred Eldership Teams, who shape and build the ministry and services of PLF as a discipleship centred Fellowship.
